Is there any way to circumvent the sign in process each day? Would prefer just to stay signed in all the time.
Thanks,
Dave

Hello Dave,
Well, it depends on what you mean. I guess, if you didn't turn your computer off or allow it to go into a power saving mode that you would stay logged in but I have never tried it. Other than that, no, each time you exit the software it is necessary to sign back in.
Sincerely,
Todd K.

Sign in question
Todd,
Are you saying that every time the computer goes into power saving mode you will need to sign in again? I always keep AS running, my computer does go into power saving mode, is that why I need to sign in again?
I am on a PC running Windows XP.
Thanks,
Dave

Hello again Dave,
Not necessarily. Our software becomes inactive while your computer is in a power saving mode so it cannot carry out snipes. But, if your system goes into a sleep mode it should not close our software. When you wake your computer our software should resume running.
I took your message to mean that you do not want to sign in each time you open the software.
If you could describe the behavior that you are seeing and trying to address maybe there is a solution. For example, when are you being asked to sign in?
Sincerely,
Todd K.

Hello again Dave,
Thanks for that additional information. If I am understanding your correctly now, it sounds like it is eBay signing you out of your eBay account and not our program signing you out of our system. If that is the case then we can't really address that.
When I sign into my eBay account there is an "Keep me signed in for today. Don't check this box if you're at a public or shared computer." option so I am assuming that a single day is the longest that you can stay logged into your eBay account and only if you check that option when signing in.
Sincerely,
Todd K.

If the computer has been in sleel mode, or for that matter for say inactive for 12 hours, when I go to AS most times Ebay will as me to sign in again.

I'm rather sure that this question has been asked before - but the answer isn't retrievable.
eBay signs you out after some period of time (about a day, if you check that box, otherwise much sooner).
ASD does not currently check whether you are signed in to ebay until just before a snipe. Then, if you aren't signed in, ASD will sign you in and submit the snipe. As far as I can tell, ASD does not then "bother" to sign you out of eBay.
Obviously, if ASD can do that (sign you in to submit a snipe), then ASD could be programmed to check periodically and make sure that you stay signed in to eBay.
That would be a reasonable feature suggestion to submit. Of course, if the past 2 years of history is indicative of anything, it would be a waste of your time to submit it.

You're talking about two different things here. The OP is talking about the browser in ASD needing to sign in (at least, I assume that's what he's talking about). But when ASD bids it doesn't bid through the browser. It uses a different type of connection to eBay for that. ASD can bid without the browser ever even being signed in.
The ASD browser should be behaving the same way any other browser behaves. Having to sign in every 24 hours shouldn't really be that much of a burden...

Yes, bidding uses a different mechanism. However - there's no technical reason that ASD could not use the built-in browser to see if the user is signed in - and "correct" the situation.

I agree that signing in every 24 hours isn't a big burden - but dbglobal thinks it is.
And the ASD browser already behaves differently from other browsers, in some respects - just not in this one.
